Nepean Area Disabilities Organisation (NADO) is a not-for-profit, community based, charitable organisation that supports people with disabilities and their families in the Nepean, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and surrounding area. NADO was first established in 1980 and later became incorporated in 1992 and has public benevolent status. At NADO our aim is to provide and promote a variety of services for people with a disability, their family and carers, enabling them to participate, grow and work towards their full potential. Our services include: • Post School Programs and Community Participation • The Nepean Social Club • The Flexible Respite Service • Keen Teens Group • Leisure Links Program • Short Term Overnight Respite in our Respite Cottage • Specialist Disability Information Library NADO sees its role as educators, carers and providers of quality disability services, role modelling to society the ethos of empowerment for each person with a disability. We endeavour to assist people with disabilities to develop organisational and decision making skills by offering appropriate and meaningful skills development opportunities through formal and informal learning activities, and we develop programs that encourage our clients to become involved in mainstream community activities. We work to promote community awareness of the needs and rights of people with a disability, and provide information and resources about disability issues to the wider community. We strive to reduce the isolation of people with a disability and their families/carers through our facilitated social and recreational activities.
